Blue Stories, Multi-channel sound and video installation, SeeLab The Hague, NL — 2026, duo exhibition with Ghazaleh Moqanaki
Blue Stories is an ongoing collaboration between Ghazaleh Moqanaki and Golnoosh Heshmati that develops through dialogue, shared research, and fieldwork. The project examines how attention shifts around ongoing conditions, and how storytelling, through sound and image making, can remain with what exceeds immediate visibility. The collaboration began with a focus on water and drought in Iran, informed by research into what has been described as a “socio-economic drought,” where demand exceeds sustainable supply. While the urgency of this crisis circulates unevenly, the project turns toward forms of knowledge that persist beyond cycles of attention.
From this starting point, the artists engage with local practices, including rain-calling rituals from different regions of Iran. These are approached as collective and lived responses that bring together environmental concerns, cultural heritage, and community building. The work considers how such practices might inform ways of working in the present.
The installation includes a multi-channel sound work, a sculptural environment with puppetry and video, and a video essay reflecting the research process, based on fieldwork conducted on Brienenoordeiland in Rotterdam and archival research on rain-calling rituals.
